2025 Community Health Needs Assessment

As part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, Bon Secours Richmond is honored to uphold nearly two centuries of dedication to the communities we serve. Every three years, we conduct a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) using quantitative and qualitative data to identify priority health needs and guide strategic planning, community investment, and community benefit initiatives. The most recent CHNA reflects findings specific to Bon Secours Richmond and is available on the Bon Secours website at the following link: https://www.bonsecours.com/about-us/community-commitment/community-health-needs-assessment

Community Partnerships

Bon Secours Hosts Senior Angel Tree Event

The Bon Secours Sarah Garland Jones Center hosted our fourth annual East End Senior Angel Tree event on December 3, 2025, in partnership with Richmond Community Hospital and the Rho Eta Omega Chapert of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The event brought holiday joy and connection to seniors at Glenwood Farms through a festive meal, gift distribution, games, live music, and photos with Santa as part of Richmond Community Hospitals’ Grand Illumination.

The Sarah Garland Jones Center Partners with the Broken Men Foundation

The Sarah Garland Jones Center partnered with the Broken Men Foundation to provide food vouchers to the Market at 25th, coats, blankets, and other resources to 160 community members in preparation for Thanksgiving.

$112,000 Awarded to Local Entrepreneurs as part of the 2025-2026 Supporting East End Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) program

Bon Secours again partnered with InUnison for the 2025 Supporting East End Entrepreneurship Development (S.E.E.D.) grant program, which was expanded to include Shockoe Bottom in addition to the Church Hill and Fulton neighborhoods following findings from a recent impact study. We are celebrating our largest cohort with 12 businesses being awarded $112,000, which brings our total investment through S.E.E.D. up to more than $1.2 million of funding in support of more than 60 local entrepreneurs and small businesses in our community.

RCH Partners with Bon Secours Care-A-Van for Winter Coat Drive

In response to an urgent need, Richmond Community Hospital partnered with the Bon Secours Care-A-Van to collect winter coats for adults and children in need throughout the community. Strong participation at the end of the year allowed the Care-A-Van team to begin distributing coats immediately, helping families at risk of facing cold weather without proper outerwear. We are proud to answer the call and rally together to make a difference and share warmth, comfort, and kindness this winter. One coat can change someone's season.

Sarah & Co. Cafe – Private Tasting

Bon Secours is proud to partner with the founders of the 6495 Foundation, Urban Hang Suite, and Virginia Black Restaurant Experience to present a new community cafe: Sarah & Co. Cafe which will soon be located within Bon Secours’ Sarah Garland Jones Center. A private tasting experience was held on October 29th, 2025, with a brief program to let customers know what to expect from this new cafe operator – scheduled to open in 2026, and we can’t wait for what’s to come.

Training and Recruitment

Bon Secours Richmond Community Hospital Successfully Hosts Third Annual East End Harvest & Career Festival

Our 3rd Annual East End Harvest & Career Festival was a huge success thanks to our amazing community and partners who continue to show up, support, and sow seeds for a brighter future. A big shout-out to Bon Secours, Vituity, St. John’s United Holy Church, and OCWB for coming together once again to bring resources, wellness, career pathways, and fun to families across our community. From free food and games to health education and career support, it was a day full of joy, connection, and empowerment. A free flu clinic, blood pressure checks, and diabetes wellness screenings were offered to community members. Additionally, there were many community career resources and networking opportunities available for parents, while the kids could spend some time getting their face painted, bouncing in the obstacle course, or getting their very own balloon animal made. Free food was made available to all of the guests who attended as well. Special thank you to DJ B-Sounds for keeping the energy high all day long, and to our special guests Nutzy & Nutasha from the Richmond Flying Squirrels for stopping by and making the day even more memorable!

Here’s to growing together, celebrating together, and uplifting our community year after year.
