At Bon Secours, caring for you and your loved ones is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility. Delivering high quality patient care is central to our Mission.

As the largest health system in Ohio and one of the largest nonprofit health care ministries in the United States, we are committed to providing safe, high-quality care for every patient, every time. Our teams continually measure performance and look for ways to improve. We base our care on the latest medical research and best practices while also working to meet your individual needs every step of the way.

Striving for ZERO Harm

We make every effort to keep our patients safe with ZERO harm by:

  • Tracking handwashing practices and infection rates to protect patients and families.
  • Measuring how well we connect and communicate with our patients through patient experience surveys.
  • Assessing teamwork, safety climate, speaking up and learning responses through nationally recognized surveys including the Agency for Healthcare Research (AHRQ) and Quality Surveys on Patient Safety Culture.
  • Training every team member to pause care if they think something could be unsafe, and to make sure it’s right before continuing.
  • Requiring checklist use and training and smart technology, such as scanning your medications and your wristband to ensure that you are receiving the correct medication.
  • Measuring our progress on national safety and quality standards, such as preventing hospital acquired infections and improving care for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia patients so we can continue to learn, grow, and improve your care.
  • Ensuring our Board of Directors monitors quality and safety metrics and leads in fostering a culture of transparency in reporting errors and implementation of performance improvement projects.

You can partner in your care by:

  • Speaking up early – Tell us right away if something doesn’t seem right; your voice helps keep everyone safe.
  • Telling us what matters most to you – Share your goals, needs and preferences so your care is personalized.
  • Staying informed – Make sure you understand your care plan, medications and next steps as well as who to contact if questions arise.
  • Staying involved – Create and use a MyChart account, where you can message your care team, see test results and keep track of your health information.
  • Reviewing quality data for each of our hospitals at Care Compare, managed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

By working together, we can make sure every patient receives safe, high-quality care every time.
