Bon Secours Nurses: Dedicated to Compassionate Care
Since Bon Secours’ beginnings in 1824 in Paris, our health system has evolved from a single group of 12 dedicated nurses who combined clinical excellence with holistic care.
We stand on the shoulders of these 12 strong women, the first Sisters of Bon Secours, courageous innovators dedicated to providing unparalleled compassionate care.
Indeed, Bon Secours sets a standard for world-class nursing, with 3,082 Richmond-area nurses garnering kudos from national organizations and patients alike.
Three of our hospitals have received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). It is the “gold standard” of nursing practice, with only eight percent of the nation’s hospitals receiving the recognition.
Richmond Community Hospital has garnered Pathway to Excellence designation, meaning that it is on its way to Magnet status.
Bon Secours considers nursing to be a calling and a profession not just a job. We are dedicated to helping nurses earn advanced degrees, specialty certifications and achieve professional and personal growth. Our many human resources driven programs provide tuition reimbursement, including a Tuition Assistance Waiver for employees who become students at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing, professional dues reimbursement and conference and travel expense reimbursement.
We expect our nurses to be board certified in a specialty. The cost of the exams, for staff who pass the exam, is covered by Bon Secours.
Our nurses are encouraged to participate and become leaders in local, national and international nursing organizations including the American Nurses Association. Many of our nurses also participate and serve as leaders in nursing organizations related to their specialty certifications.
Bon Secours’ award-winning Employee Wellness programs offer myriad resources, classes and opportunities for our nurses and their families to thrive, including fitness classes, coaching and healthy eating demonstrations at our facilities.
We offer competitive benefits, including flexible scheduling options, and support employees as they balance work and family.
Bon Secours’ Mission is to provide good help to those in need. We encourage our nurses to be involved in their community, and they regularly participate in local health screenings, career days at schools, and church and community programs. Many volunteer at free clinics, on rescue squads and as first aid providers at area events.
