Temporary Visitor Restrictions

Bon Secours recognizes that having family support is important for the wellbeing of our patients. Therefore, while continuing to ensure the safety of our patients, health care workers and visitors, visitation restrictions are being relaxed effective Friday, May 29th.

Moving forward, visiting hours will now be held seven days per week between 10 am and 6 pm. The new policy will allow one visitor per patient, per day. The one exception to this rule is our Emergency Department. No visitors will be allowed in unless a patient requires a medical companion or is in an end-of-life situation. This restriction will help ensure the safety of our patients and community.

The following precautions will be required of all visitors:

  • All visitors will have a temperature check and appropriate symptom/exposure screening prior to entry to the facility. Visitors presenting with a fever or symptoms suggestive of possible COVID-19 infection (per current CDC recommendations) will not be permitted to enter.
  • All visitors must comply with universal masking, hand hygiene and cough etiquette.
  • Visitors are encouraged to remain in patient’s rooms and to alert nursing staff when they are leaving.

Bon Secours continues to have a no visitor policy for COVID-19 patients and in those areas caring for potential COVID-19 patients. Visitors age 15 and under are also not allowed. Additionally, older visitors and those with comorbid conditions associated with increased risk of COVID-19 are encouraged to avoid visitation.

These changes do not apply to the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center due to this facility having a high risk patient population.

In our progress to recover from the COVID-19 restrictions by taking steps to improve outcomes for our inpatients through increasing family visitation, and providing greater access for our outpatient procedures, we are opening up the South entrance and parking lot at Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown to patient and visitor parking.

Effective Monday, June 15, visitors may enter the St. Francis Downtown campus through the south entrance to the main hospital lobby, and the north entrance to the outpatient center lobby.  Visiting hours will remain limited.
