Our office is situated at the Bon Secours Bridgeway Training Center, in Suffolk VA. The Office of Academic Affairs for Hampton Roads will manage all applications for clinical placement and shadowing, as well as oversee compliance requirements for students at various entities within the Bon Secours Health System in the Hampton Roads area.
Mission
As its core mission, The Office of Academic Affairs provides leadership to ensure the strategic and efficient placement of students in medical, nursing and health sciences programs within Bon Secours practicum sites located in the Hampton Roads market.
Goal
Our goal is to streamline student placement and capture every student within Bon Secours Health System serving the Hampton Roads market.

Application Process
A preceptor is required before completing the application process.
Step 1:
- For clinical and non-clinical placements only, please confirm that your school has an active affiliation agreement with Bon Secours. You can review the current list of affiliated schools below.
- If your school is not listed, please contact our office for further assistance and additional information
Step 2:
- Find a preceptor who can accommodate your desired placement and dates. The Office of Academic Affairs does not assist with finding preceptors or placement for students. Kindly connect with your school for support regarding this matter.
Step 3:
- Click the link below that matches your program and request. Complete the online application. You can find the link, a checklist, and all required compliance documents on the first page of the instructions linked below.
Step 4:
- All paperwork and requirements must be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs. Once all documents have been received the standard processing time is 3-4 weeks.
Step 5:
- Await approval notice from the Office of Academic Affairs. Once approved, you will receive an email from our office. You cannot start a rotation without approval and a student badge.
