Diversity and Inclusion

We will attract, retain, and develop an exceptional workforce and build a culture of inclusiveness and integrity that values diversity.
— Strategic Quality Plan, Bon Secours Health System

Bon Secours is committed to building a world-class workforce where people are valued for their skills and talents and appreciated for their uniqueness. In fact, in many markets, the diversity of leadership reflects the diversity of the surrounding community. And Bon Secours continually looks for ways to increase this diversity.

As you discover the authenticity and breadth of Bon Secours’, you will begin to understand that Diversity and Inclusion are not just the latest buzz words from the business world. They represent Bon Secours’ willingness to recognize, understand, appreciate, and respect individuals regardless of their differences. Such respectful relationships lead to "inclusion" where productive interactions reinforce feelings of belonging and a sense of connection to the Mission, Vision, and Values.

Communicating clear strategies and obtaining employee feedback are germane to success. The Strategic Quality Plan firmly states Bon Secours will "attract, retain, and develop an exceptional workforce and build a culture of inclusiveness and integrity that values diversity." In addition, the Bon Secours Diversity and Inclusion Council, with representatives throughout the system, meets to develop and build on initiatives that reach every employee, physician, volunteer, patient, and resident in the communities Bon Secours serves. These initiatives touch many areas, from recruitment, to education and training, to vendor relationships.

Bon Secours measures the success of its diversity and inclusion initiatives through its annual employee engagement survey. In addition, chief executives from each facility conduct an annual "talent review" within their local system. These are milestones, however, and the journey toward diversity and inclusion never ends. One thing is certain: Bon Secours is a place where talents, gifts, and differences are welcomed, valued, and appreciated.
