Dr. Budny is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon working at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. Dr. Budny has 10 years of orthopedic experience, and specializes in hip and knee replacement, joint arthroscopy, fracture care, and general orthopedics.
As a fellowship trained surgeon in adult reconstruction, Dr. Budny specializes in complex hip and knee reconstruction, robotic arm assisted surgery, direct anterior hip replacement, as well as innovative techniques of hip and knee preservation surgery. He utilizes the most up-to-date technology and techniques in the treatment of arthritis complicated joint problems. Dr. Budny also has a significant background in trauma: he has treated thousands of broken bones, torn tendons and ligaments. Dr. Budny was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After high school, he moved to Rochester, New York, for his undergraduate career. It was here that he earned a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Developmental Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in German Language, with a minor in Psychology. Aside from his academics, he was also a 5 time state champion pentathlete/decathlete with the University of Rochester Men's Track and Field team, ultimately becoming an All-American decathlete in his senior year.
After his undergraduate career, Dr. Budny attended the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree, going on to a general orthopedic residency at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. Upon completion of residency, he participated in his adult reconstruction fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Since his fellowship, he started private practice in western Pennsylvania before moving to Richmond. He lives in Richmond with his wife, son, daughter, and two dogs. He enjoys his family time, home renovation, fitness, and hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains.
