GREENVILLE, SC (August 28, 2025) – Bon Secours St. Francis is proud to announce a three-year partnership with PKL Park, becoming the exclusive health care provider for the rapidly growing pickleball destination located in the heart of Greenville. Through this partnership, Bon Secours Sports Medicine and Orthopedic teams will offer on-site medical coverage for tournaments, leagues, and other major events, supporting athletes with injury prevention, acute care, and recovery services.
“Our partnership with PKL Park is an extension of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus by serving the community and promoting wellness in all the places people live, work, and play,” said Matt Caldwell, president of Bon Secours St. Francis. “Whether you're a weekend warrior or a tournament-level competitor, our team of experts is here to keep you in the game.”
Pickleball now boasts more than 4.8 million players nationwide, with projections to double in participation over the next five years. Along with its rapid rise in popularity comes a notably high rate of injury, making the presence of trained Athletic Trainers and orthopedic specialists critical for both safety and performance.
“We are thrilled to partner with Bon Secours, an organization whose mission and values align so well with ours. Their commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community makes this collaboration especially meaningful, and we look forward to building something impactful together,” said John Sharkey, Co-Founder, PKL Park.
PKL Park anticipates more than 50,000 players and 150,000 spectators and guests in 2025 alone, reinforcing its role as a hub for competition and community. This new partnership builds on Bon Secours’ commitment to supporting community wellness through local sports. And extends well beyond the court.
In addition to on-site Sports Medicine coverage, Bon Secours will use PKL Park’s signature events, like Fit Saturdays and league play, as opportunities to connect guests with its wide range of health and wellness services. Visitors will learn how to access programs and resources across the health system, including:
- HealThy Self, a community gym and wellness program that promotes healthy habits through preventive screenings, coaching, and lifestyle resources
- Community Health initiatives that address local health needs and provide education
- Well Walkers and Heart Health promotions encouraging active lifestyles
- Preventive screenings and health education opportunities
- Partnerships like Project Search to create experiences and potential employment pathways for individuals with disabilities
These service connections aim to make PKL Park not just a place to play, but a destination for learning, prevention, and whole-person health. In addition to these offerings, Bon Secours Sports Medicine will continue providing access to its complete sports and orthopedic care continuum, which includes:
- A network of fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons
- Board-certified sports medicine physicians
- Licensed athletic trainers and physical therapists
- Advanced rehabilitation and performance programs
