Shannon LaSpina

Shannon joined the Richmond Hope team in October 2012 after five years as a staff PT at Sheltering Arms in outpatient orthopedics, and two years as a PT and clinical researcher in the UVA/Kluge pediatric gait lab. She is thrilled to be back working in her first love, pediatrics, and with such a dedicated and driven team of therapists and patients. She brings advanced training in pediatric gait analysis and in integrated manual therapy through Great Lakes Seminars to the team.

Shannon received her clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2004 from Virginia Commonwealth University and was a fellow in the VCU Leadership Excellence in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (VA-LEND) program while there. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in psychology/sociology from Roanoke College and pursued schooling for physical therapy after volunteering in an adult rehabilitation facility her junior year.

Shannon is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and has been active in the local district, serving as director from 2008-2011. Shannon is married with three young children, and enjoys distance running, playing outside with the kids, and cooking.
