Midwifery

Our new midwifery practice gives Virginia women even more options for good health – before, during and after pregnancy.

Always caring, collaborative and compassionate, our certified nurse-midwives are registered nurses with master’s degrees, post-master’s training and board certification by the American College of Nurse-Midwives, dedicated to a natural approach to childbirth.

Midwifery at Richmond OB-GYN is a fully integrated practice, with certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) working together with obstetricians to share insights and expertise. Plus, midwives participate with insurance carriers in the same way other health care professionals do, and their services are generally covered no differently.

Our midwifery services include:

  • Complete prenatal and postpartum care for women with low-risk pregnancies
  • Lactation and breastfeeding consulting
  • Menopausal care, including hormone replacement therapy
  • Well-woman annual exams

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling our office at 804-320-2483. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify us immediately so we may reschedule your visit. We suggest that you call or schedule online several weeks before you are due for your annual exam. If you have a problem or an emergency, we will schedule an appointment with one of our physicians as soon as possible.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time to complete a patient information form and sign an authorization for release of medical information. Please bring a photo ID and insurance card. Our practice is HIPAA compliant and all information is strictly confidential.

Test Results

Normal mammogram results are communicated to both the physician and the patient by the hospital. If there is an abnormal result for your Pap test or mammogram, you will be contacted in order to arrange your physician’s follow-up plan.

Test results are also available in MyChart. Please allow 24 to 48 for our providers to review after receiving test results.

Prescription and Refills

We are pleased to offer our patients the convenience of electronic prescription refills (ERx). To refill your prescription by ERx, simply contact your pharmacist and they will take care of submitting an electronic request to our office for approval. Please allow 24 hours for the request to be approved.
