You need a test to know for sure if you have COVID-19.
- Rapid at-home tests give results in minutes
- PCR lab tests are more accurate but take longer
- Some people may need more than one test to confirm
COVID-19 treatment
Most people can recover at home, but treatment depends on how sick you are.
- Rest and drink plenty of fluids
- Take over-the-counter medicine for fever or pain
- Stay away from others until you're not contagious
- Go to the hospital if breathing is hard or symptoms get worse
- Doctors may use antiviral medications or give oxygen for serious cases
When to seek care
Call a doctor or get emergency help if:
- You have trouble breathing
- Your lips or face turn blue or gray
- You feel confused or very sleepy
- You have chest pain that won’t go away
- Your symptoms are getting worse instead of better
