Dr. Edens completed his B.S. in Biology at Furman University in Greenville, SC in 1991. He then went on to complete a Doctor of Medicine at MUSC in Charleston, SC and did his Postgraduate Training at Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson, SC. During his residency years, he also worked as a part-time Emergency Department Physician. Dr. Edens has been a Family Physician in Pickens, SC and later moved to Family Practice Associates in Easley, SC in 2000. During Postgraduate Training, Dr. Edens was Chief Resident in 1997-1998 and voted Outstanding Resident of the Year in 1998. He was certified with the American Board of Family Medicine in 1998 and re-certified in 2005.
He enjoys jogging and spending time with his wife and three children. He has participated in medical mission trips to Romania, Thailand, Peru, and East Asia. Dr. Edens is a Team Physician for the Pickens High School football team, Medical Director for the Board of Directors Samaritan Health Clinic, Medical Director for the Board of Directors for Abundant Living Program of Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, and a Camp Physician for Camp McCall Royal Ambassador Camp. He has served as a physician for the SC Baptist Convention Disaster Relief Medical Team responding to natural disasters in Mississippi after hurricane Katrina and Haiti after the earthquake in 2010. He also helped star the Adopt N.O.W. (No One Waiting) initiative in 2009 to raise awareness in churches about the need for adoptive families for the children waiting in the SC foster care system. He has been a volunteer physician for the Pickens Celebrates the Fourth event and the Big League World Series.
