Dr. Griswold is certified in the specialties of hospice and palliative medicine, geriatrics, and family medicine. He received his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of North Carolina/Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. He worked in rural family medicine for 14 years and then completed a geriatric fellowship at Virginia Tech/Carilion Clinic in 2010.
Before joining Bon Secours’ palliative team in 2015, he was an assistant professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, medical director of the inpatient Palliative Medicine Services at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and a geriatrician with Riverside PACE. He has a special interest in improving the transition between care sites (acute, long term care, home) for our sickest and most vulnerable patients. After eight years of specialist, primarily inpatient medicine, he is happy to be returning to rural family medicine.
