As a Sports Medicine specialist, Dr. Koch performs minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, total shoulder replacements, reverse shoulder replacements, and is one of only a few surgeons in the area who perform hip arthroscopy.
He is the medical director of CESA soccer academy, serves as a team physician for the Furman University Paladins football, basketball and lacrosse teams, as well as multiple high school football teams.
Dr. Koch is a Greenville native who graduated from Wofford College and earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at the Greenville Hospital System. During his residency, he served as chief resident and earned the Jackson Award given to a "young physician with exceptional promise."
Dr. Koch then completed a fellowship program in Sports Medicine Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. During his fellowship, he served as a team physician for both the University of Utah football team and women's soccer team while receiving extensive training in the latest approaches in sports medicine surgery.
He volunteers regularly at the Greenville Free Medical Clinic and the United Way of Greenville. He enjoys the outdoors, snow skiing, and spending time with his wife and two young sons.
