Phil Alexander began his medical training as an aero medical evacuation specialist, flight paramedic, in the United States Air Force (Staff Sergeant). He received his associate degree in science in nursing (RN) from the University of Alaska in Anchorage. While working extensively as an intensive care RN, he received his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. He went on to complete his Master of Science in nursing as a family nurse practitioner at Old Dominion University.
He is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and worked as a palliative care nurse practitioner prior to joining the Liver Institute of Virginia. He is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
