Moussa Sissoko, MD, is board certified in oncology, internal medicine, and hematology, and is board eligible in geriatrics. He received his Bachelor of Science in bioscience from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, and his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Sissoko completed a residency in internal medicine from Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University in Charleston, West Virginia, where he was the chief medical resident during his final year. He went on to complete a fellowship in hematology/oncology and geriatrics from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts, serving as the chief fellow during his final year.
Prior to joining Bon Secours, Dr. Sissoko worked as a hematologist/oncologist at Charleston Area Medical Center Cancer Center, as well as a clinical assistant professor of the Internal Medicine Department at West Virginia University Charleston Division. He also has extensive experience working in clinical and research laboratories.
Dr. Sissoko is fluent in English, French and Wolof (Senegal), and communicates well in Arabic, Malinke and Fulani. He is a member of many professional societies, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American Geriatrics Society and the International Society of Geriatric Oncology. He has participated in a number of abstracts, posters, presentations and publications, as well as funded research projects.
