Dr. Mark R. Bladergroen received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He went on to complete an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine. In addition, he completed a research fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. He completed his thoracic and cardiac surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Bladergroen specializes in minimally invasive valve repair and replacement, aortic aneurysm surgery and off-pump (beating heart) bypass surgery. He developed the Bon Secours Heart & Vascular Institute endograft surgery program and performed the first thoracic endograft in Central Virginia. In addition to his full time cardiac surgery practice, Dr. Bladergroen serves as a section chief for Memorial Regional Medical Center, as well as chief medical information officer for Bon Secours Richmond Health System.
