Mahmoud Jawhar, MD
Dr. Jawhar is board certified in general surgery. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School, also in Norfolk. He then completed residencies in general surgery at Summa Health System/Akron City Hospital and Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, both in connection with Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Dr. Jawhar specializes in general surgery and has additional surgical skills in stereotactic breast biopsies, upper endoscopies, and colonoscopies. Prior to joining Bon Secours, he worked as a surgeon in Galax, Virginia, where he served as chairman of the credentialing committee, chairman of the department of surgery, secretary of the medical staff, and a peer review member. In addition he was an associate professor of surgery at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a student, Dr. Jawhar received a number of honors and awards, including surgery resident teacher of the year and surgery resident of the year at the Children’s Hospital.
