Lawrence R. Volz, MD was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA. He earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from The Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, graduating with the distinction “Top of the Class” in 1989. He completed his Urologic residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after two years of General Surgery training at that same institution.
Dr. Volz has practiced urology in the Tidewater area since 1995. He holds particular interest in erectile dysfunction, stone disease, prostate cancer and benign prostate disease, and has performed over 1000 prostate cancer brachytherapy procedures. In addition, he has held many positions including Practice Physician Manager of a nine physician urology group, and Chief of Surgery at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Volz is board certified by the American Board of Urology and the National Board of Medical Examiners and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). He is a member of the American Urological Association and the Mid-Atlantic Section American Urological Association.
When not practicing urology, Dr. Volz enjoys spending time with his family, reading, running and biking. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center, an organization providing medical care to the underserved in the Williamsburg area.
