Dr. Sanders earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA in 1989 after receiving his B.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985. He completed his internship in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in 1990, as well as his residency in general surgery and his residency in urology in 1991 and 1993, respectively. He was chief resident at MCV from 1993 to 1994.
Dr. Sanders has been practicing in Hampton, VA for the past 19 years and joins us from Sentara Medical Group. Dr. Sanders gets great satisfaction from serving his patients and says, "It is so rewarding to be able to see that you have made a difference in someone’s life”.
He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Sanders is a member of the American Urological Association, the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urological Association, and the Tidewater Urological Society.
When not working, Dr. Sanders is an active general aviation pilot; he loves to fly. He has landed at all 66 independent airports in Virginia. He also enjoys spending time with his family two sons, both Eagle Scouts and his wife, an anesthesiologist. Dr. Sanders also enjoys gardening, home auto repair, tinkering with his model railroads and woodworking.
