Dr. Phillingane was born and raised in Prince George, Virginia. The first of his family to graduate from college, he decided to pursue a career in medicine and attended Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Florida. He completed a 3 year intensive surgical residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. While at Mount Sinai, he served as the chief resident and gained experience in trauma, sports medicine, elective surgery and complex reconstructive surgery.
During medical school, he received multiple scholarships for his clinical judgment and leadership, including the Outstanding Clinical Skills Scholarship in 2014 and the Podiatric Medical Student Merit Scholarship in 2015. He was given the honor of being named Resident of the Year by the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in 2018, as well as the Resident of the Year by Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2018.
His areas of special interest include: small joint replacement, ankle arthroscopy, endoscopic plantar fasciotomy, foot and ankle fracture repair, minimally invasive procedures, hammer toe and bunion surgery and sports medicine.
He is excited to be home, living and working in the Tri-Cities. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their 2 children. He also enjoys playing golf, boating and vacations to the Outer Banks.
