Dr. Bessler received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia. Following an Internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, Dr. Bessler was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune, NC and deployed to the Middle East with the Second Marine Division in support of Operation Desert Storm. After his tour with the U.S Navy, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Vermont and moved to Lancaster County in 1994.
For the past 21 years Dr. Bessler has practiced at Bay Internists, Inc., volunteered at the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic and served as Medical Director for Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury. His special clinical interests include nonpharmacologic approaches to improving health and wellness, tick borne illness and dermatology.
Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1994, Dr. Bessler is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Medical Society of Virginia. He is a certified DOT medical examiner.
Dr. Bessler is an avid kayak fisherman who enjoys camping and fishing on the Eastern Shore and throughout the Northern Neck.
