Dr. John Troy Owens is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in cardiac catheterizations and coronary interventions from the radial (wrist) approach. He has completed extensive training in the placement and management of temporary ventricular support devices for the management of cardiogenic shock. Also, he is trained in the percutaneous management of peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Owens completed his bachelor of science in biology at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania, and a master of science in clinical exercise physiology at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Dr. Owens went on to receive his medical degree from Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He also completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at VCU Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases.
