John D. Allen, DO, is board certified in both pain medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation. He received his Master of Science in physical therapy from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida, and his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. He completed his internship in traditional rotating at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Jackson Memorial Hospital in affiliation with the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, followed by a fellowship in pain medicine at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Dr. Allen has served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, and prior to joining Bon Secours he worked at the Hampton VA Medical Center as a physician focused on pain management and physical rehabilitation. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.
