Hong J. Jun, M.D., FACS, practices at Bon Secours – Surgery and treats patients in Petersburg and Emporia, VA. As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Jun's areas of practice include endovascular surgery and open vascular procedures, angioplasties, bypass procedures for PVD, carotid surgery and AV fistula placement for dialysis access. He specializes in advanced laparoscopic procedures, trauma and vascular procedures. His knowledge also includes hernia, gallbladder and oncologic surgery such as treatment for breast cancer and colon cancer.
Dr. Jun earned his medical degree from the American University of Caribbean in St. Martin. He completed his general surgery residencies at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM, and the University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT.
Dr. Jun strives to be at the forefront in advancements of surgery and medicine. His research on ""Epidemiology and Prevalence of Breast cancer in Native Americans in New Mexico"" was presented in ACS meeting. He has two product patents through the US patent office designed to reduce hospital acquired infections. Dr. Jun also enjoys teaching and mentoring students. He was a clinical instructor at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, where he received a Teacher of the Year award.
In his free time, Dr. Jun is an enthusiast in US history, particularly the Civil War era, and enjoys antiquing in the Petersburg area. He also enjoys visiting with his families in northern Virginia, Albuquerque, and Massachusetts.Areas of practice include, but not limited to:
