Dr. Hernan Gatuslao is a board-certified neurologist with a special interest in neuromuscular disorders. He received a bachelor of science from the University of the Philippines in Baguio City, Philippines and a doctor of medicine from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines. Dr. Gatuslao completed his residency in neurology at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia and completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and a fellowship in neurology/neuromuscular disorders, also at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Gatuslao has held several academic appointments, including Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Gatuslao has won several consecutive teaching awards working with the Neurology Residency Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Previously he was the director of the stroke program at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center and vice-chairman of the department of neurology. He has contributed to numerous neurology-related presentations during his career. Dr. Gatuslao is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, Virginia Neurological Society, North Central Virginia Association of Philippine Physicians, Medical Society of Virginia and Richmond Academy of Medicine. He continues to educate and treat a wide variety of neurological disorders such as headaches, dementia, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, and muscle disorders. He also does diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as EMG/NCS, chemodenervation with botulinum toxins, occipital nerve blocks, and trigger point injections.
