I was born in Chicago, IL. As a child, I lived in Argentina and later lived in Costa Rica. I ultimately settled in Richmond, where I graduated from VCU with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I studied at the Medical College of Virginia where I received my MD. I went into private practice and was a partner and the administrative director at James River Ob/Gyn, where I worked for 27 years.
