Barbara Bishop received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Pennsylvania State University and her Master of Science in nursing from the University of Maryland. At Maryland she graduated as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society and was presented with the Award of Excellence. Barbara holds three certifications: adult nurse practitioner (ANP-BC), Multiple Sclerosis certified nurse (MSCN) and certified neuroscience registered nurse (CNRN).
Barbara has practiced in the field of neurology since 1985. While she sees patients with a variety of neurological diagnoses or symptoms, she specializes in the care of patients diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Barbara is extensively published, and has performed clinical research and lectures on both local and international levels. She is presently on the advisory panel of a national MS publication. On a personal level, Barbara enjoys road cycling and mountain biking along with swimming and hiking. She is team captain of the cycling team, “Beach Vortex,” which rides to raise money for MS awareness by riding the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Bike MS annually.
