Anand Kapur, MD, is a board-certified family practice and sports medicine physician. Dr. Kapur received his medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a family practice residency through Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in sports medicine with the Max Sports Medicine Institute at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He served as an assistant team physician for Ohio Wesleyan University. He then completed acupuncture training at the Helms Medical Institute which was cosponsored by UCLA and Stanford University.
Dr. Kapur practices family medicine with a focus on sports medicine. Since 2008, he has been the lead primary care team physician at Old Dominion University for preparticipation exams, event medical coverage and comprehensive medical care in the athletic training room setting. He has provided medical coverage for several national NCAA tournaments.
His special skills include medical acupuncture, joint and soft tissue injections, and the evaluation and management of athlete concussions. Dr. Kapur is an assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School where he guest lectures and teaches medical students. He has written several articles for various publications and has made several local television appearances as an expert in sports medicine.
