Amanda Weller was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA.
She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2004 and earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2008. She then traveled to Dallas, TX to complete an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern.
Following residency, she expanded her arthroscopic surgical skills by completing a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Weller earned her certification in athletic training while at the University of Virginia. Here she participated in the medical care for the Varsity Men’s and Women’s tennis teams and Varsity Men’s soccer team as well as athletes from many other teams. Dr. Weller also has thorough experience as a team physician having worked with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the University of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Passion, Duquesne University, the Grand Prairie Airhogs, and multiple high schools in Dallas.
Throughout her training she has participated in orthopaedic research resulting in the publication of multiple peer-reviewed articles and presentations at national orthopaedic meetings. She has also authored book chapters in orthopaedic textbooks.
In her spare time, Dr. Weller enjoys running, biking, playing soccer, and weightlifting. She also thoroughly enjoys healthy cooking and eating. She resides in Portsmouth, VA.
