Bon Secours Richmond Hope Therapy Center has expanded into a newly renovated, 10,500-square-foot location in Henrico, representing a $3 million investment that increases the center's footprint and capacity to serve children with complex medical and developmental needs.
Located at 1604 Santa Rosa Road, the new facility provides additional space for Richmond Hope's specialized pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy services, including eight private treatment rooms, a large equipment room, a room dedicated for casting and splinting, a parent lounge and a home simulation bathroom. Richmond Hope celebrated the expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 27 with staff, Bon Secours leadership, the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation and donors.

"We have been fortunate to grow alongside the families we serve, and this expansion gives us the space to welcome more children while continuing to provide the individualized care and relationships that have defined Richmond Hope from the beginning."
Founded by Richards in 2006, Richmond Hope Therapy began as a pediatric physical therapy practice and has grown into a multidisciplinary center specializing in children with complex medical and developmental needs. The center provides physical, occupational and speech therapy, including an intensive therapy model designed to help children work toward functional and developmental goals.
Richmond Hope's model is intentionally specialized. Richards personally screens families seeking care to understand each child's medical history, needs and goals and determine whether Richmond Hope is the appropriate setting. The center often works with children over many years, allowing therapists to develop a deep understanding of each child's needs and progress.
That continuity is reflected in the longevity of the Richmond Hope team. Richards has been with the practice for 20 years, while many team members have been there for more than a decade. For families, that can mean working with therapists and staff who know their child's history and can build on their progress over time.
The expansion also responds to significant demand for specialized pediatric therapy in the region. Families seeking services at Richmond Hope currently face an average wait of approximately eight months.
The $3 million expansion was made possible in part through a significant capital campaign supported by the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation, local donors and members of the Richmond Hope Therapy community, including past families whose children have received care at the center. The campaign helped fund the renovation and expansion and reflects a community investment in increasing access to specialized pediatric therapy.

This new space is about honoring what we have built over the past 20 years while creating room for the next generation of children and families who need us."
