
Bon Secours - Iron Bridge Emergency Center will provide 24/7 emergency care and convenient access to diagnostic imaging services
Chesterfield County, Va. - (October 6, 2026) - Bon Secours leaders and associates, together with Chesterfield County officials, community members and partners, broke ground today on Bon Secours' sixth freestanding emergency department (ED) in its Richmond market, Bon Secours - Iron Bridge Emergency Center. The facility will serve as an extension of Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center and will provide 24/7 emergency care and diagnostic imaging services.

"The Iron Bridge Emergency Center will provide another convenient option for patients seeking emergency care and diagnostic imaging services, while helping connect patients with access to emergency care across the Bon Secours network."
The new 14,800-square-foot facility will provide an additional location for 24/7 emergency care in Chesterfield County, helping to support patient volumes at the Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center emergency department. Its location will also provide another point of access for emergency medical services in the county. The facility's imaging center, featuring CT and X-Ray capabilities, will provide on-site diagnostic services for patients receiving care at the emergency department as well as outpatient imaging services.
The anticipated opening of the new facility is Fall 2027. A few highlights include:
- 12 emergency department exam rooms, including a dedicated behavioral health room
- CT and X-Ray imaging capabilities as well as a full lab onsite
- Separate waiting areas for emergency department and imaging center
- Coordination of admission to Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, if needed
- Conveniently located about one mile from the intersection of Route 10 (Iron Bridge Road) and Route 150 (Chippenham Parkway)
Typical conditions treated at a freestanding emergency department include:
- Life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and respiratory issues
- Medical problems that come on suddenly, such as fever, infection and severe allergic reactions
- Major injuries such as burns, fractures and head injuries
- Minor injuries such as cuts and sprains
- Complications from chronic illnesses
- Poisonings and overdoses
Bon Secours - Iron Bridge Emergency Center will be located at 5201 Chippenham Crossing Center, Richmond, VA 23234, and will be the sixth freestanding emergency department in the Bon Secours Richmond market.
