Last week, Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital (RGH) held a dedication of its new cancer clinic and outpatient infusion center (OPIC), marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s multi-phase renovation and expansion project. Designed to bring comprehensive cancer care closer to home, the new facility will provide patients in the Northern Neck and surrounding communities with access to expert oncology services in a modern, healing environment. The new facility will officially open to patients in early June.

“This is a proud and meaningful moment for our hospital and for the many patients and families who seek care at Rappahannock General Hospital,” said Bessie Brown, vice president of nursing and hospital administrator, Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital. “With the opening of this new facility, we’re not only expanding access to vital cancer care, but we’re also delivering it in a way that prioritizes compassion, convenience, and continuity. We’re deeply grateful to the community whose generosity helped make this possible.”
Located on the RGH campus, the newly renovated space brings together the hospital’s cancer clinic and infusion center under one roof, improving coordination between care teams and streamlining the patient experience. The facility is equipped with updated technology and modern amenities that support a more comfortable and personalized care journey for those navigating a cancer diagnosis.

“Cancer care is constantly evolving, and this new space allows us to meet those changes head-on with a focus on caring for the whole person,” said Cameron Wood, MD, oncologist, Bon Secours Cancer Institute at Rappahannock General Hospital. “From diagnosis through treatment, we can now deliver advanced care in a thoughtfully designed setting that reflects our commitment to healing, dignity and hope.”

The new clinic and OPIC are part of a larger investment in Rappahannock General Hospital, which began in 2021 and has already delivered key improvements including a new hospital entrance, lobby, emergency department, reception area and café. The broader initiative is supported by both Bon Secours and the community through the Campaign for Rappahannock General Hospital, which was coordinated by the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation. After surpassing its original fundraising goal early, the campaign increased its goal to $20 million which has since been met. Remaining campaign funds will continue to support future upgrades across the facility, including enhancements to the inpatient wing, courtyard garden and other priority areas.
