Bon Secours has named Peter Charvat, M.D., as chief clinical officer for the Bon Secours Richmond market. Dr. Charvat will keep clinical practices across our market aligned, standardizing best practices in patient care and evidence-based medicine.

Dr. Charvat brings more than 20 years of experience as a physician executive to Bon Secours, including most recently serving as chief medical officer and vice president for St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Tampa, Florida. Prior to that, he also served as vice president and chief medical officer of Johnston Health – UNC Health Care in North Carolina and he’s also served as a physician and Department of Emergency Medicine Chair at St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota.

Dr. Charvat earned his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and his master’s degree in health administration from the University of Colorado Denver. He is board certified in emergency medicine and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Charvat will report to former Richmond market CCO, who now serves as the chief clinical officer for Bon Secours Mercy Health’s Providence Group, Mark Townsend, M.D.
