Ashland, Va. (December 11, 2025) – Bon Secours opened the doors to its new Ashland Emergency Center today, Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025. Featuring a freestanding emergency department (ED) and outpatient imaging center, the facility expands access to both walk-in and scheduled imaging services, including MRI, CT, X-Ray, and Ultrasound, while also increasing access to 24/7 emergency care for patients and EMS who have previously needed to travel long distances for life-saving treatment.
The 10-bed ED, staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurses, offers care for life-threatening emergencies, major medical concerns and major injuries, using the same state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment as found in Bon Secours’ hospitals. Ambulances can transport patients requiring inpatient care directly to Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center for admission, bypassing the hospital ED. An external ribbon-cutting event was postponed due to inclement weather, and an opening celebration will be scheduled at a later date.
“We are thrilled to open Bon Secours Ashland Emergency Center, meeting a critical need for residents of Ashland and Hanover County,” said John Emery, president, Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center and Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital. “These expanded emergency and imaging services will help decompress high volumes at Memorial Regional Medical Center and allow our patients to seek care closer to home when and where they need it.”
The new facility addresses the region’s growing demand for emergency and imaging services and will play a critical role in improving access to care. By expanding access to CT, MRI, X-ray, and ultrasound imaging and strategically distributing 24/7 emergency services closer to where patients live, the new location will help alleviate high emergency department volumes at Memorial Regional Medical Center, enhance medic and EMS reliability, improve emergency transport times, and provide more convenient access to imaging services for patients across the community.
