DeFade First in Ky. to Receive Center of Excellence Designation
OLBH urologist Brian DeFade, D.O., is the first in Kentucky to be designated a UroLift Center of Excellence. The designation is given by NeoTract, a wholly owned subsidiary of Teleflex Incorporated focused on addressing unmet needs in the field of urology. The designation recognizes that DeFade has achieved a high level of training and experience with the UroLift® System and demonstrated a commitment to care for men suffering from symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate.
NeoTract officials traveled to Ashland to present the designation to DeFade during a special ceremony Thursday, May 30. DeFade offers treatment for enlarged prostates by utilizing the UroLift System, the first permanent implant to treat symptoms due to urinary outflow obstruction secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men 50 years of age or older. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration, the UroLift System is designed to relieve symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, while preserving sexual function. The UroLift System’s permanent implants, delivered during a minimally-invasive procedure, act like window curtain tie-backs to hold the lobes of an enlarged prostate open. Patients recover from the procedure quickly, and return to their normal routines with minimal downtime.
The UroLift Center of Excellence program is designed to highlight urologists who are committed to educating their patients on BPH and the UroLift System as a treatment option and consistently seek to deliver excellent patient outcomes and experiences. “We are pleased to recognize Dr. Brian DeFade as a UroLift Center of Excellence for his commitment to providing consistent care to BPH patients using the UroLift System treatment,” said Dave Amerson, president of the Teleflex Interventional Urology business unit. “This achievement has helped many patients experience durable, long-term relief from the burdensome symptoms of BPH while preserving sexual function.”
DeFade and Jeremy R. Bonzo, M.D., perform the procedure at OLBH. DeFade and Bonzo are in practice at Bellefonte Urological Associates. Bellefonte Urological Associates currently is accepting new patients. Appointments can be made by calling (606) 833-6235.
