OLBH Recognized with National Honor for Excellence in Wound Healing

The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center has been recognized with the national President’s Circle Center of Excellence award by Healogics, the nation’s leading and largest wound care management company. It is the first time the OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center has earned the honor, given for clinical excellence and outstanding performance in wound healing. Of 340 eligible centers nationwide, only 26 received the President’s Circle award.

The President’s Circle award was earned by the OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center for achieving patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal for two consecutive years. “This is a great honor for our center, and I’d like to thank the staff and management for their work that led to this achievement,” said OLBH Vice President of Operations Rod Hieneman. “Thanks also to Healogics for their partnership at the OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center. The President’s Circle Center of Excellence demonstrates to patients the quality of our services and the positive outcomes we’ve achieved.”

The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Centers, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Treatments offered at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, application of cellular-based tissue or skin substitutes to the wound, offloading or total contact casts and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

“We maintain a team of specialized physicians, nurse practitioners and clinicians that allowed us to receive the President’s Circle Award because of their care of patients,” said OLBH Director of Wound Care Napoleon Burris. “I’d like to thank Dr. James Martin, who serves as our medical director, and all of the staff for the excellent effort during the last two years that led to this award.”

The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center is located on the ground level of Bellefonte Centre (1000 Ashland Drive) on the hospital campus. The center can be reached at (606) 833-4043.
