Dr. Timmerman has been with Colon and Rectal Specialists since 1997. He specializes in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, laparoscopic colon surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal and anorectal disorders. Areas of special focus include laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, da Vinci® robotic surgery, treatment of colon and rectal cancer, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and presacral tumors, and screening colonoscopy.
Dr. Timmerman is Board-certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Additional memberships include the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Chesapeake Colorectal Society.
Dr. Timmerman’s past honors include President, Chesapeake Colorectal Society; Richmond Magazine’s “Top Docs;” Virginia Living Magazine; “Best Doctors of Virginia and Washington, DC,” and Best Doctors in America.
