Ryan A. Harrell, DO

Ryan Austin Harrell was born and raised in Hampton Roads. He attended Tabb High School where he enjoyed running track and served as co-captain of the football team. He attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate degree earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Nuclear Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman before attending medical school at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Harrell was a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi National Honor Society and earned valedictorian of his class. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Northwell Health in Long Island, NY. There he also served as resident team physician for the NY Lizards Major League Lacrosse team. Dr. Harrell was awarded the Bob Green Memorial scholarship by the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics for the highest combined national score on the orthopedic surgery board examination. After residency, he completed a fellowship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD specializing in orthopedic sports medicine surgery. During fellowship, he had the opportunity to take care of multiple professional, collegiate and high school athletes including the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, Loyola University, Towson University and Morgan State University.
Dr. Harrell is now a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) which is a select international shoulder and elbow society with only 2 members in the Hampton Roads, VA area.
Dr. Harrell is excited to be returning home to provide experienced orthopedic care to the local community. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family in the Hampton Roads area and golfing in the community he currently resides.
