Marta Carvalhal, LISW-CP
Marta Carvalhal is a licensed independent social Worker who has been practicing in Clinical Social Work for 10 years. Marta specializes in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar spectrum disorders and borderline personality disorder. She uses cognitive behavioral, insight-oriented and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy while serving the adult population. Marta will also provide Christian-based therapy upon request.
Marta received her DDS at the University Federal Fluminense in Brazil where she worked with the unprivileged population as a Dentist. In 2004 she received her Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. She worked with Anderson Youth Association educating parents on behavioral management techniques. Marta has experience with crisis stabilization on the inpatient unit at Marshal I. Pickens. She also teaches for the University of South Carolina; group therapy, research methods and DBT with the School of Social Work.
