A leader in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the Hampton Roads region, Dr. Mark J. Kanter is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Southern Medical Society, the Hampton Medical Society, and the Medical Society of Virginia. One of the leading Hampton plastic surgeons, Dr. Kanter offers patients a clean and secure environment for outpatient surgical operations, and is available now for consultation on your next cosmetic or reconstructive procedure.
Dr. Kanter traveled to Lexington, Kentucky to complete a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency training at the University of Kentucky in 1992. He had the good fortune to train with Dr. Edward A. Luce, the 2001-2002 president of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS). Additional education for cosmetic surgery included time spent with Dr. Norman Cole (also a past president of ASPRS in 1991-1992).
A post graduate fellowship in cosmetic surgery in the greater Boston, MA area with Dr. Eugene Courtiss, a founding member and past president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, completed Dr. Kanter's formal plastic surgery training in December 1992.
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Dr. Kanter is married and has five children. They are very active in their church and enjoy both creating and collecting art, participating in musical instrument studies, sports, and outdoor activities.
