Dr. G. Theodore (Ted) Hughes is a native of Norfolk, VA. He completed his medical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School and began practicing in his specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1985.
Dr. Hughes is very active as Medical Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Bon Secours Depaul Medical Center, Assistant Professor at the Eastern Virginia Medical School and is a local Medical Examiner for the Tidewater area. He has special interests in urogynecology and minimally invasive surgery and continually trains in the latest techniques to remedy urinary incontinence.
Dr. Hughes was instrumental in opening the first Midwifery Center in Hampton Roads. With the team effort of the Midwives, both in the Center and in traditional care, he has been able to help keep the c-section rate of the group’s patients at 17%, the lowest rate for the state.
In his free time he enjoys flying and restoring vintage cars.
