What is the Bon Secours Care-A-Van?


The Bon Secours Care-A-Van is our free mobile health clinic serving Richmond’s uninsured and underinsured population for 30 years. It operates five days a week staffed with physicians, nurses, social workers and interpreters providing care for more than 14,000 patient visits each year. Offering same-day services as well as scheduled appointments, the following services are offered to both adults and children throughout the region in partnership with area churches and local nonprofits:

  • Same-day acute care for minor illnesses
  • Primary and pediatric care
  • Preventive care/wellness visits
  • Chronic disease management
  • Back-to-school physicals
  • Women’s health services
  • Behavioral health services
  • Vaccines and immunizations

Our community health and outreach worker teams are available to help bridge the gap for families in need when it comes to issues of food insecurity, reduced cost referrals, financial assistance, health education, health insurance enrollment and more.

The Bon Secours Care-A-Van operates by appointment only. Please call 804-545-1923 between 7:00am-8:30am to schedule same-day appointments as available – please visit out our monthly calendar above for appointment availability. Same-day appointments are granted on a first come, first serve basis. 

In addition to offering in-person visits, the Care-A-Van also offers virtual visits which allow patients to connect with their health care team through both audio and video. Patients need a smart phone or computer with a camera to connect with a provider. Audio only options are also available.

Interpreter services are available in over 150 languages.

What is the Bon Secours Community Health Clinic, Manchester?


The Bon Secours Community Health Clinic, Manchester, at the Center for Healthy Living opened to uninsured and underinsured patients in the Richmond community on April 3, 2023. This new appointment-only clinic is an extension of the Bon Secours Care-A-Van, which has been serving Richmond’s uninsured community for 30 years.

Equipped with eight exam rooms, an on-site lab, collaborative office space and a behavioral wellness room, the new Community Health Clinic in Manchester expands Bon Secours’ ability to promote well-being, provide care and make connections to sustainable resources. The goal of the facility is to offer a fixed location where uninsured and underinsured adults and children can always find access to:

  • Primary and pediatric care
  • Chronic disease management
  • Women’s health services
  • Behavioral health services
  • Vaccines and immunizations

In addition, our community health and outreach worker teams are available to help bridge the gap for families in need when it comes to issues of food insecurity, financial assistance, health insurance enrollment and more.

What Else Should I Know? 

  • All clinics operate by appointment only. 
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. 
  • Bring all medications and vaccine records with you. 
  • Minors must bring a parent or legal guardian. Parent or guardian must submit photo ID and/or proof of guardianship. 
  • Take an active part in making decisions about your health care. We’ll support you and your family as you take steps to be your healthiest.
  • As your medical home, we will help coordinate your care by storing your complete medical record history electronically.
  • Let us know when you see other health care providers or have any tests so we can update your medical history. Providing your complete medical history enables us to provide better care.
