Sponsorship Requests
Bon Secours Hampton Roads is committed to improving the health and well-being of our communities. We seek to partner with organizations that share our commitment and sponsor their events when possible.
We prioritize our limited resources to sponsor events in which there is synergy with one or more of the following:
- Our Mission: To extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities and bring good help to those in need, especially people who are poor, dying and underserved.

- Our Relationships with Communities
We do not approve proposals for individuals, schools, pageants, catastrophes, government, political campaigns, and building projects.
Since we receive a high volume of requests, please ensure that:
- The sponsorship application is complete, and all the information is correct
- The application is submitted no later than 90 days prior to the event date or date of need
If you have multiple events you plan on seeking sponsorship support for within the next year, please include them all in one sponsorship request so that we can better understand the overall support you are seeking.

Mobile Health Care Services
The Bon Secours Care-A-Van is a free medical service that provides general medical care to uninsured adults and children in Hampton Roads communities. Services include routine evaluation and treatment of common acute illnesses including:
- Gastritis and heart burn
- Minor skin rashes
- Minor musculoskeletal pains
- Respiratory infections
- Urinary tract and bladder infections
- Headaches, ear aches, and pink eye
- Chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension
The Care-A-Van also offers sports physicals, children's health insurance enrollment, and health education services. Medical conditions that are beyond the team's scope of care are referred to another care setting.
The Care-A-Van team is bilingual and composed of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, patient technicians, and outreach workers. Community partners, including free clinics, local health agencies, and numerous faith-based community organizations, collaborate with us. Bon Secours funding, grants, and contributions sponsors the Care-A-Van to ensure that services are free for all patients.

Family Focus
Three main goals direct all of our Family Focus programs and activities: to reduce parent isolation by increasing parent-to-parent support and linking families to valuable community resources, to increase parents' knowledge of childhood behaviors and development through parent education, to promote positive nurturing parenting practices.
For parents and children, Bon Secours Family Focus provides programs which cover the entire developmental spectrum with a variety of classes to include health and safety related topics:
Infant Nurturing Program: For parents and their infant. Infant stimulation exercises to music and discussion of topics related to parenting a newborn.
Al's Pals - Kids Making Healthy Choices Learning Program: For children ages 3 to 5 years. Developing children's cognitive, social, and emotional skills.
123 Magic: For parents with children 5 to 12 years
Active Parenting: For parents with children 1 to 12 years
Active Parenting of Teens: For parents with teenagers

Bon Secours Family Focus programs are associated with Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital, St. George's Episcopal Church, First Baptist Church Newport News, Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center, and Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.

KIDZ'NGRIEF
Modeled after the Dougy Center, our KIDZ'NGRIEF bereavement program offers grief education and support to children and teens as they cope with the multitude of changes and emotions they experience after the death of a family member or close friend. The program encourages children and teens to ask questions and talk about the person who has died through a range of innovative activities, including games, art, puppets, role-plays, and stories. These activities can help children adjust to the physical loss of their loved one.
We offer a variety of bereavement support groups for children and groups for adults who bring children to KIDZ'NGRIEF. These programs are open to families from anywhere in Hampton Roads. We also hold a weekend Mikey's Camp in the Fall.
Because KIDZ'NGRIEF is underwritten by private donations, the program is free-of-charge to all participants.
KIDZ'NGRIEF meets in Newport News, Virginia on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, September through June, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Children may enroll and attend anytime during the year. We also hold a weekend "Mikey's Camp" in the Fall.
The program also offers a "volcano room," where children ages 3-12 can go to "let out the big stuff" in a special room, facilitated by caring adults.

Green Initiatives
Bon Secours embraces ecological stewardship as an essential part of caring for all of God’s creations and as an integral part of advancing the healing mission of Jesus to bring individuals and communities to health and wholeness.
The organization focuses its efforts on three programming pillars: Recycling, Regulated Medical Waste and Energy Conservation. Since the program’s inception, recycling has increased 90%, regulated medical waste was decreased 69% and energy has achieved a 2.5% site EUI reduction. Bon Secours has embraced a culture of sustainability and continues to strengthen the connection between the health of individuals, communities and the environment in its services.
Bon Secours facilities have received over 60 Practice Green Health Awards- the premier national environmental organization for leaders in healthcare sustainability-reflecting an overwhelming recognition of the reduction in the system’s carbon footprint.
Global Ministries
Our Global Ministry program is empowered by the growing global awareness of the health care needs of those most in need both near and far, the Sisters of Bon Secours and its strategic goal to improve health globally. Since the program’s inception, Global Ministries has been able to reach over 40,000 beneficiaries.
With global operations in Peru, and support services in different parts of Africa and Haiti, Bon Secours focuses primarily on improving the needs of women and children living in marginalized communities.
Bon Secours Health System is part of a unique capacity-building coalition in Peru to reduce infant and child mortality.
