- Graduated from the University of California and the Riverside and Loma Linda University School of Medicine, then he went on to complete his surgical internship at the Naval Medical Center in Oakland and the University of California-Davis, followed by a five-year General Surgery residency at the Regional Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
- Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and is active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. In addition, he serves as a procotor for the da Vinci – minimially invasive Robotic Surgery.
- Special interests include Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery including: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, da Vinci Robotic Surgery, Breast and General Surgery.

Dr. Matthew L. Brengman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Richmond Surgical Group
- Graduated from Cornell University Medical College in Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, then he completed a five-year general surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and a one-year research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
- Board Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Brengman has served as the assistant general surgery program director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and pioneered the practice of advance Laparoscopy and Laparoscopic Bariatric surgery at Walter Reed. Dr. Brengman was recently elected as the President for the Virginia Bariatric Society. Dr. Brengman is an active member of the Amercian Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and holds a position on Surgical Access Committee. Dr. Brengman has a special interest in research and the advancement of Bariatric Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery and is a member of the Institutional Review Board for the Bon Secours Health System. Dr. Brengman has been the Primary Investigator for several research projects related to Bariatric Surgery including the Rose Procedure. In addition, he serves as a procotor in the Advancement of Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery.
- Special interests include Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery including: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy; as well as Breast Surgery and General Surgery.

Dr. Brennan J. Carmody, M.D., F.A.C.S.

- Graduated from the University of Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, then he went on to complete an internship and five-year residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a fellowship in advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. In addition, he was Director of the Surgical Weight Loss Director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
- Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.), and has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and chapters. Dr. Carmody is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
- Special interests include Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery including: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding, and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy; as well as Breast Surgery and General Surgery.

Dr. David C. Elliott, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Richmond Surgical Group
- Graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, then completed a 5-year residency in General Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.. After a two-year fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care Medicine at the MIEMSS Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, he returned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he served as attending general surgeon and Chief of Critical Care Medicine.
- Dr. Elliott is certified in Surgery and Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery, and is an awardee of the Legion of Merit, the Order of Military Medical Merit, the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society, and Fellowship in the American College of Critical Care Medicine.
- Special interests include Laparoscopic Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Neil E. Hutcher, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Commonwealth Surgeons Ltd.
- Graduated from the University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, then he went on the complete his surgical internship and residency in 1973 at the Medical College of Virginia. In 1973, Dr. Hutcher began practicing surgery in Richmond. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Mary's Hospital and is currently the Medical Director for the Bariatric Program. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at both the Medical College of Virginia and McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr. Hutcher is a respected leader in the advancement of Bariatric Surgery and is recognized on a national level for his contribution to the field of Bariatrics. He has dedicated his career to educating the community about effects of obesity on health and works towards providing access to care for those individuals who suffer with obesity. Dr. Hutcher has served as Past President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Dr. Hutcher is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Surgical Review Corporation.

Dr. Gregory L. Schroder, M.D., F.A.C.S.

- Graduated from the Medical College of Virginia after completing undergraduate training at the University of Virginia, then he went on to complete a five-year General Surgery internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia.
- Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.) and currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Mary's Hospital. Dr. Schroder is the Past President of the Virginia Bariatric Society and chairperson of the State Chapters Committee of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Schroder also serves as councilman on the Executive Council for the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Schroder serves as a procotor in the Advancement of Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery.
- Special interests include Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery including: Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding as well as General Surgery.
