general surgery

General Surgery is a subspecialty that involves the care of your child before, during, and after an operation. Surgeons diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions in most areas of the body, including the head, neck, chest, abdomen and extremities. Pediatric surgeons are doctors who have had five years of general surgery training and have received an additional two years of advanced training in how to treat and perform surgery on infants, children and adolescents.

At Bon Secours, our board-certified pediatric surgeons will work closely with your child's physician to plan, coordinate and prepare your child for surgery. Aided by our team of nurses, anesthesiologists and other professionals, our Pediatric Surgeons combine compassion with the latest surgical techniques to deliver comprehensive, expert care to your child. We address the surgical needs of children of all age groups, including:

  • Repair of birth defects
  • Serious injuries that require immediate surgery
  • Endoscopic procedures
  • Removal of tumors
  • Gastrointestinal and urologic surgery

We understand children aren't small adults and they have different surgical needs. Our pediatric surgeons have the specialized knowledge and expertise to treat your child gently and safely.
