Our Nurses are Called to Care
The professional practice of nursing at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital is grounded in a rich history of the healing and caring practices of the Sisters of Bon Secours. The Sisters of Bon Secours began with a group of twelve women in France committed to their calling to alleviate human suffering, to help bring others to an awareness of the redemptive meaning of suffering and death, and to an awareness of their relationship with the Father, reproducing in ourselves — Christ healing; Christ consoling, Christ loving; Christ always aware of the needs of others. The Sisters expanded their mission to serve the United States in 1881 and specifically to Richmond, Virginia in 1966 at St. Mary's Hospital.
