Bon Secours Virginia Named Best Company For Hourly Workers

Working Mother magazine has named Bon Secours Virginia Health System one of the “Best Companies for Hourly Workers” for 2013, in recognition of its policies and programs that promote employees and that support a dynamic work-life culture. Bon Secours is the only health system in Virginia on the list.

“We are especially proud to be recognized for our dedication to our hourly workers, who are at the forefront of caring for thousands of Virginians,” said Peter J. Bernard, CEO of Bon Secours Virginia Health System. “To support our mission of bringing good help, we want to make sure we provide a positive and enriching workplace that enables our employees to best care for the communities we serve.”

A number of work-life initiatives, wellness benefits and training programs contributed to the successful building of Bon Secours Virginia’s award-winning culture, including:

  • Health care coverage – insurance is available to full- and part-time employees and covers hospitalization, outpatient care, sick office visits and prescription drug cards
  • Employee Wellness Services – free onsite health classes and health clinics, education, screenings, caring for caregivers, and exercise opportunities
  • Dependent care – onsite and offsite child care, eldercare support, college scholarships for employees’ children and grandchildren, summer camps and volunteering opportunities for employees’ children
  • Education and development – tuition assistance for employees’ continuing education, a wealth of free onsite and online personal and professional development courses, and mentoring and coaching sessions
