Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) at St. Francis Eastside Hospital
Neonatal Care
Every parent hopes for a normal, full-term birth for their child. Some infants, however, may need more help in their first crucial moments to get off to a strong start. That’s where the Level II Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) at St. Francis Eastside Hospital can help.
Our recently redesigned NCU was constructed to be comfortable and family-centered, making it easier for you to spend time with your baby. We offer private room options, rather than a traditional open nursery, which create quiet, peaceful environments for mother-baby bonding. There are even two rooms specifically built for twins to ensure that families will never need to separate.
24-hour Neonatologist Coverage
At St. Francis Eastside Hospital, unlike other Level II NCUs in the region, we are committed to having experienced, board certified neonatologists (pediatricians with special training to care for premature and sick newborns) present in the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We have partnered with Onsite Neonatal Partners, one of the nation’s leading practices in compassionate, evidence-based neonatal care. Onsite performs the following critically important services for our fragile babies:
- Attending High-Risk, Premature, and/or Cesarean births
- Monitoring infants in the Neonatal Care Unit
- Performing well-infant exams when requested by the hospital or pediatrician
- Providing state-mandated newborn hearing screenings
- Additional services for your baby and family
