Visit St. Francis Medical Center

St. Francis opened its doors in 2005 - the first new hospital built to serve residents south of the James River in over two decades.

Medical Services and Specialties

Richmond's newest hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, is a state-of-the-art facility with 130 private rooms and a full spectrum of services. Its peaceful setting provides a restful and contemplative environment for patients, families, staff and the community. The Chapel, prayer gardens, fountains and walking paths are designed to enhance the spiritual aspects of healing. Services at St. Francis include all types of surgery, women’s services, 24-hour on-site neonatology, 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopaedics, oncology, urology, pediatric services, cardiac catheterization, MRI/CT and diagnostics and nuclear medicine.

General Surgery
All types of general surgeries are available at St. Francis, including vascular procedures, laser and reconstructive surgery, plastic surgery, eye surgery, ear/nose/throat surgery, neurosurgery, urological procedures and orthopaedics. Six “Operating Rooms of the Future,” give surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists use of the latest in medical equipment and technology, allowing for more efficient surgery, and giving patients more time in recovery.

Neonatology at Bon Secours St. Francis provides the most advanced equipment and technologies available for the hospital’s tiniest patients. Infants receive round-the-clock nursing care, and parents, whether in the hospital or at home, can watch, too. BonSecoursNICU.net, a trademarked communications technology, makes it all happen. Bon Secours Richmond is the first hospital system in Virginia and among the first hospitals in the U.S. to provide this breakthrough technology.

The Surgery Center has four all-digital, state-of-the-art, outpatient surgical suites, and guests have the ease of parking right at the front door. The Medical Office Building is directly connected to four floors of the hospital, also making it convenient for patients, physicians and staff. Close to 200 physicians are now affiliated with the Surgery Center.
